Restoration Begins On A Serpentine Barrens
Don Recklies, a naturalist and board member of the Staten Island environmental group, Protectors of Pine Oak Woods, made a slide presentation, which ETV was allowed to video and edit, as a separate part of their semi-annual meeting
Don traces the archaeological and geological history from about 250 million years ago to the present day on the subject of rock formation and vegetational growth of Staten Island's Serpentine rock.
It's a journey well worth learning about with great slides, easy to understand dialogue and a jewel to keep for further reference whether for hiking around our Island or talking about at any kind of gathering.
